High School Memories

Who was your favorite teacher/coach and why: Mr. Huisken – He knew we would never use Latin, so we had lots of fun doing other things like determining if we could boil water or not....

What high school experience do you still laugh about: Heather Elzinga yelling 'PMS' instead of 'PMI' (positive mental attitude) during a volleyball match.

What is your fondest memory: Being carefree and spending time with friends

Do you remember a senior prank: Marbles during senior chapel; Garbage can pyramid and other misc things in school entry after senior class trip Were you a part of it: You bet!

Did you make a friend(s) you still keep in touch with: Not as many as I would like to

We are now 33 – give or take a year. What age do feel: 28

Post High Experience

Best piece of advice received in the last 15 years: Love is a daily choice, not a feeling!

Your proudest accomplishment: Giving birth to 3 boys including a 9 lb, 11 oz firstborn without an epidural and a breach third born – naturally (though with epidural!). Also, I am humbled to be used of God to play an integral part in the freedom of over 500 women from human sex trafficking through our business/ministry – Better Way Imports

Favorite thing about your current life situation: Being equally frustrated and amazed on a daily basis by my boys – big and small!

Most important life lesson learned (humorous or serious): I am more sinful than I think I am, and God is more gracious than I can comprehend.

An issue you are passionate about and why: so many soapboxes, so little space....here's a quick list: ADOPTION – because I have been adopted by God the Father, and taking care of orphans is a Biblical mandate (James 1:27), HUMAN TRAFFICKING – more people are in slavery today than at any other time in history...including 14 million who are forced to sell their bodies for sex countless times every day (Psalm 10), HOMESCHOOLING – because God has given the responsibility for these children to their father and I, not anyone else, no matter how qualified they are and it is the best gift we can give our children (Deut. 6:4-9), APATHY – I hate it and see no excuse for it especially from Christians (Revelation 3:16) MODESTY – The way we dress is our first and often only witness to the public. Immodesty is a symptom of a deeper, more troublesome heart issue. Is it any mystery why we are seeing issues like abortion, cutting, eating disorders, infidelity & divorce rearing their ugly heads in the Church??? (I Timothy 2:9)

Post High Experience

Best piece of advice received in the last 15 years: " When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one that has been opened for us"

Your proudest accomplishment: I don't like to say proudest accomplishment, because we can't really do anything by our own strength, but I will say that God has given so much to be thankful for and has opened many doors to enjoy. I feel blessed to have a wonderful family and a job that I love.
